Job description
· Adherence to safety procedures and participation in safety initiatives.
· Design, develop, test, deploy, monitor, improve and maintain high quality, fit-for-purpose, reusable, and maintainable solutions according to set standards and processes within the allocated time and with a minimum of rework.
· Hardware and System Incident resolution according to set service level agreements.
· Routine MS Windows updates and servers and workstations.
· Routine Anti-virus updates.
· End-user support on ICT hardware including workstations, printers, and scanners.
· Troubleshooting, monitoring, and status reporting.
· Applies corporate and departmental standards, policies (testing, validation, change control, disaster recovery and incident/problem management) and rules.
· Callout service including scheduled standby and after-hours support / escalation as and when required.
· Documentation such as Design Documentation, Training manuals, Functional specifications, and technical specifications.
· Attend production operational meetings / Change Advisory Board meetings and other meetings as and when required.
· Acquire knowledge of plant and/or business processes in allocated area of responsibility.
· Risk management to reduce the Risk Exposure for the company.
· Self-education in terms of relevant current best practices, technologies, trends, and events.
· Reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for ArcelorMittal South Africa.
· Drive Digital Transformation through the deployment of relevant technologies, challenging the status quo.
Minimum requirements
- National Diploma (NQF 6/10),
- Advantageous B-degree or Higher Diploma (NQF 7/10) in Computer Science / Information Technology / Information Science, or other relevant qualifications from a recognised institution.
- 18 Months relevant experience in the development, integration, and support of information systems in a Production Automation, Manufacturing Execution or similar environment
- Skilled and experienced in most of the following software environments:
- Web development (API, Web Forms, Blazor, Bootstrap).
- Relevant experience in developing in Visual Studio (C#, VB, ASP).
- Development and design within a Microsoft SQL database environment (T/SQL).
- Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services.
- Understands the essentials of system integration and inter-system communication (API, Middleware, OPC, etc.).
- AspenTech InfoPlus.21 (IP21).
- GIT Repository management.
- Windows operating systems administration, server, and workstation (including patching).
- Hardware end-user support including workstations, label printers and scanners.
- Understands Active Directory Domain Services and single Sign-on and rights management.
- Skilled and experienced in the following processes:
- Incident Management.
- Change Management.
- Good understanding of System Development Life Cycle and solution analysis.
- System availability, reliability, and security.
- Good understanding of the production, business and supporting processes in a steel manufacturing environment.
- Understanding and experience of levels of automation in manufacturing.
- Exposure to Agile System Development and Project Management processes.
- Working knowledge of MS Office range of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
- Strong people skills – effective facilitation, negotiation, and collaboration skills up, down and across the organisation.
- Communicate effectively and with confidence.
- Analytical thinker and strong problem-solving skills.
- Passion for the steel manufacturing environment and desire to learn the processes to understand where the Production Automation Systems function.
