Job description

Strategy & Planning

         Lead APC projects; and organize and negotiate the allocation of resources.

         Apply agile methodology in the design of digital technology enabled solutions to support the AMSA business transformation.

         Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.

         Ensure the efficient utilization of resources within the area of responsibility.

         Oversee all reports and documentation related to system support and projects in the environment.

         Conduct system feasibility studies and testing.

         Develop and implement all functional policies and procedures, including those for system architecture, standards, purchasing, and service provision.

 

Acquisition & Deployment

         Manage and control a project portfolio as they relate to the selection, acquisition, development, and installation of control, instrumentation, and electrical related systems.

         Assist with the review hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts and pursue master agreements to capitalize on economies of scale.

         Define and communicate corporate plans, policies, and standards for the department for acquiring, implementing, and operating APC systems.

 

Operational Management

         Provide APC third line maintenance support for plants.

         Focus on exceptional client service through understanding the AMSA business challenges and provide enterprise wide technology solutions.

         Provide insight and advice to alleviate customer needs around APC.

         Strong Project Management and interpersonal skills, preferably with a demonstrated track record of delivery using structured methodologies.

         Keep up current with trends and issues in the APC field

Minimum requirements

Qualification:
  • B-Eng Degree (NQF 8/10) in Electrical / Electronic Engineering
Experience and Requirements:
  • Minimum 8 years experience managing Advanced Process  Control (APC) and Process Automation (PA) systems
  • Minimum 8 years experience in the Steel industry will be advantageous
  • Experience in Digital Transformation:
    • Level 1 cyber security
    • Virtualisation
    • Active directory in the process control environment
    • Internet of things
  • Substantial exposure to data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, and outsourced systems
  • Excellent understanding of project management principles
  • Demonstrated ability to apply APC technologies in solving business problems
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to APC
  • Ability to set and manage prioritites judiciously
