ArcelorMittal South Africa is hiring for an Operator Grade 1, Thabazimbi Iron Ore Mine Rehabilitation - Thabazimbi (J4)

Job description

Responsibilities and Requirements

· Provide assistance to artisans as and when required

· Surfaces are continuously maintained according to operational standards and closure plan to ensure smooth road surfaces & to prevent tyre damage of vehicles and equipment

· The cleaning of storm water channels, slime pits, removal of waste & oil spillages, watering areas & plants/trees & the preparation of areas for development

· Levelling & compacted areas by means of a grader and other equipment

· Prescribed routes are followed, road signs and regulations are adhered to and prescribed hauling standards are followed

· Instructions by the supervisor are executed accordingly to ensure required standards

· Suitable equipment is operated according to surfaces and rehabilitation method (levelling, shaping, filling buttresses, etc)

· Equipment operated according to prescribed procedures to lengthen life of equipment and to minimize delays and financial losses

· Evacuated and parked equipment at end of shift at the designated area

· Any equipment defects & malfunctions are reported

· Fill in and complete all documentation / electronic reporting systems and info requirements regarding safety and work executed

Minimum requirements

Qualification and Requirements

· Grade 12

· Valid Driver’s license code C1

· Mobile equipment operation experience

· Proof of training on equipment

· Proof of operating equipment and licenses

· Safety knowledge and general safety regulations

· General financial knowledge regarding equipment

· Knowledge on reporting relevant machine information and work executed

Experience and Requirements

· 3 years Working experience in mining or civil engineering including the following:

· Operation of various mobile equipment

· Knowledge and use of various mobile equipment safety systems

· Knowledge and use of various mobile firefighting equipment
