Job description

  • Provide a specialist Analytical service to ArcelorMittal South Africa with regard to routine and non-routine analysis of various solid and liquid samples, utilizing appropriate testing methods and techniques.
  • Plan day to day task and priorities
  • Interpretation of results and reporting thereof
  • Provide technical support/advice to ArcelorMittal South Africa
  • Commissioning of new analytical instruments
  • Analytical method development and validation thereof
  • Comply with all aspects of ISO17025 requirements
  • Comply with ISO14000 and related safety standards for the Works.
  • Develop training material and co-ordinate training requirements for subordinates.
  • Analytical fault finding and first line maintenance of analytical instruments
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers directly
  • Investigation of customer complaints and internal detected errors
  • Purchasing of laboratory consumables (SAP system)

Minimum requirements

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS                                                                                                                        
Minimum: ND or HND (Chemical Engineering) (NQF 6/10)
Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience
 
COMPETENCE REQUIREMENTS                                                                                                                
Knowledge                      
  • Experience in Production environment
  • Good knowledge of Safety
  • Sound knowledge of national and international specifications applicable to chemical testing
  • Good grasp of basic laboratory practices and testing
  • Excellent analytical chemistry knowledge and ability
  • Extensive knowledge of ISO 17025
