Job description
· Manage subordinates as well as a multidiscipline group of project management people, including contractors.
· Fully understand the AMSA 5- and 10-year Strategy and Capex plans.
· Give guidance and mentor young project managers and engineers.
· Ensure safety on site and compliance with all SHERQ related requirements.
· Oversee project management activities.
· Consulting, feasibility studies, site supervision and quality control.
· Cost control and estimates, cash flow predictions and management of budgets.
· Document control and filing.
· Detail planning and execution of shutdowns and project programs.
· Progress control.
· Liaison with clients, contractors and sub-contractors.
· Improve the plants with minimal investment.
· Addressing risks due to age, incident damage, neglected deterioration and a changing business environment.
· Develop, model and implement sound mechanical solutions to eliminate recurring plant problems.
Minimum requirements
Qualifications and Requirements
· B Eng Mechanical (NQF 8/10)
· 10 years plus experience in positions requiring project implementation, engineering and maintenance.
· Optimization of plant processes and cross functional leadership, of which 8 years minimum at senior level.
- Exposure to AM best practices within plant environment.
- Substantial experience in conducting project feasibility studies including a sound financial understanding of project profitability.
- Provide a multi-disciplinary approach and coordination
o To cover all aspects required in larger or more intricate projects and problems
o Consider design, electrical, mechanical, civil & logistical aspects
- Function as a floating engineer for various plants within AMSA
o Provide technical support on high risk and growing problems
o Sharing experience & expertise with newer technical personnel
o Assist plant technical teams in decision making and idea evaluations
o Manage identified tasks during plant shutdowns
- Take technical lead on identified projects
o Develop solution concepts
o Check feasibility and quality to ensure planning for successful execution
o Focus on safe & efficient execution methods
o Coordinate various resources
· Excellent communication, presentation skills, including capacity for writing and speaking to an internal and external audience, across all hierarchical levels Analytical problem-solving skills and demonstrated capabilities to solve complex issues.
· Computer and digital media literate; comfortable with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Projects and analytics systems.
