Job description

  • Direct, coordinate and lead the plant team in executing planned maintenance work and ensuring timely execution of identified work within the constraints of available resources
  • Ensure that maintenance work is identified through inspections, condition monitoring,predictive maintenance, detective inspections, usage-based tasks, ad hoc requests,RCAs and breakdowns
  • Analyse the resulting work identified and gate keep work that becomes part of themaintenance work backlog to ensure that the right work for maximising equipmentreliability, safety and performance remain in focus
  • Manage, prioritise, review and update work backlog based on plant priorities andreliability needs
  •  Manage opportunity work backlog and capitalise on work execution opportunities
  • Support the Maintenance Manager in the planning, scheduling and coordination of
  • shutdowns and planned stoppages
  • Support the Maintenance Manager in establishing a positive Culture in area of responsibility
  • Identify reliability needs of the plant that require progress development and that cannot be resolved through ordinary maintenance practices and enhancements
  • Understand and support the priorities of the plant
  • Ensure that quality of work done by his team is to standard to improve plant reliability
  • Coordinate work executed by Sub-contractors and Centralised Services.
  • Coordinate and manage breakdowns/equipment failures/unplanned stoppages.
  • Manage safety and permits, related to all work performed on plant, and ensure safetyprocedures are followed for the safety of all stakeholders
  • Manage Isolation and Lock-out for all work performed on plant equipment.
  • Ensure that all stakeholders in area of responsibility, adhere to AMSA safetyprocedures
  • Ensure that all work order comments, and job card feedback is completed, of goodquality and critical information captured on relevant platforms
  • Manage closure of work orders and verify completeness and accuracy of work order information
  • Ensure that potential failure risks discovered, during execution of work, are identified and becomes part of the maintenance work backlog
  • Form part of Management of Change process through initiating requests regardinghanges to procedures, work orders, EMPs, parts, specifications and drawings, and coevaluate requests for changes
  • Define, organise and implement after care and follow-up plans for equipment
  • Evaluate the quality of work planning and recommend changes and improvementswhere applicable
  • Coach, train, lead and develop IDPs for personnel development
  • Promote a Continuous Improvement culture focussing on improving the KPIs i.e.,improve plant reliability and performance, no health/safety/environment incidents and reducing costs

Minimum requirements

Qualification:
  • National Diploma (NQF 6/10) in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering
  • Trade Certificate: Electrical / Mechanical
  • Structured Junior Management Development Program will be advantageous
Experience and Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years’ post training experience in Mechanical and/or Electrical Maintenance environment
  •  Practical problem solving in repairing and assembling equipment
  • Practical experience in Work Identification and improving equipment reliability
  • Experience in Technical Problem-Solving using tools like RCAs and Short loops
  • Proven experience in breakdown and shutdown planning, scheduling, coordination and exution
  • Basic understanding of equipment reliability and execution practices
  • Understand the significance of equipment reliability
  • Understanding of different failure modes of equipment
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment and their functions
  • Sound knowledge of trades and the use of special tools
  • AMSA Safety, Health & Environmental systems and practices
