Introduction
The role is accountable for managing the Materials Handling environment, including internal rail and earth-moving operations, while ensuring SHERQ compliance, legal adherence (2.7A), and effective contractor oversight. The role includes maintaining infrastructure and equipment, managing budgets, and driving continuous improvement through strategic projects.
Job description

Key Performance Areas:
  • Responsible for the management of the Materials Handling environment
  • Management of SHERQ within the team
  • Management of total internal rail transport operations
  • Adherence to the Railway Safety Regulation Permit
  • Management of internal earth moving equipment operations
  • Develop and maintain a maintenance strategy of Locomotives, Rail wagons, MHE, Equipment, Rail Track Infrastructure and Road Infrastructure
  • Management of contractors
  • Take 2.7A responsibilities and ensure compliance to legal requirements.
  • Project management
  • Management of financial budget and the identification of CI opportunities.  

Minimum requirements

Qualifications:
  • Applicable B-Eng degree (NQF8/10)
  • Management Development Program
  • Preferably a 2.7A certification 
Experience:
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a production and maintenance environment
  • Minimum 5 years management experience
