Long Products Operations is looking to appoint a Steel Maker
Job description
- Attend shift Meetings
- Inspect the crane and identify defects to ensure safe working conditions.
- Complete crane inspection reports and inform Supervisors and Maintenance of any faults.
- Maintain crane inspection logbook
- Assist maintenance when working on the equipment
- Test the crane following inspection procedures.
- Communicate current status and test crane with Snidjers.
- Remove sculls in the vessel and place ladles on RH steel car.
- Place full ladles on the turret with lids, ensuring correct placement and clear camera view.
- Deslag ladles removed from the turret, ensuring no slag remains.
- Maintain good housekeeping to prevent injuries and ensure a clean work area. Send empty and full weights of ladles to database
- Share knowledge and skills with colleagues and subordinates to create a learning environment.
- Assess new personnel using Safe Operating Procedures/Manuals.
- Undertake and assist team members with tasks and responsibilities outside your normal scope of work
- Develop skills and competencies according to Standard Operating Procedures/Equipment Manuals and Area Process Training Manuals
- Comply with FPS Safety systems and adhere to 5S & SHERQ systems.
- Conduct pre-task risk assessments and identify/report hazards.
- Stop work if it cannot be conducted safely.
- Immediately report all incidents, injuries, and hazards.
- Assist fellow team members to work safely.
- Actively participate in safety meetings and contribute to continuous safety improvement.
Minimum requirements
Qualification:
- Grade 12 / NCV 4 (NQF 4/10)
Experience and Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in Sec Met / Steelmaking operations operating a crane250 Ton Crane license
- Risk judging ability and good knowledge Knowledge of FPS Safety systems and 5S & SHERQ systems.
- Physically fit
- Familiarity with crane inspection procedures and legal requirements.
