The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the production processes, ensuring efficient and effective operations, and meeting production targets. This role involves managing a team of production staff, coordinating with other departments, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and quality.

Job key performance areas
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the organisation
  • Oversee daily production operations to ensure adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
  • Manage and lead a team of production staff, including training, development, and performance management.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, quality control, and other departments to ensure smooth and efficient production processes.
  • Monitor production metrics and implement corrective actions to address any deviations from targets.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
  • Prepare and present production reports to senior management, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement.
  • Manage production budgets and control costs to achieve financial targets.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and finished products.
  • Address any production-related issues and implement solutions to minimize downtime and disruptions.

Minimum requirements

Qualification
  • B-Degree (NQF 8/10) in Engineering and preferably completion of a Management Development Program.
 
Skills and Experience
  • 6 years' relevant experience, preference in an industrial environment
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a managerial role
  • Knowledge of both production and maintenance functions
